Isaiah 9:6, “For unto us a child is born; Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (NKJV)
I love those words, “For unto to us…” Notice the writer does not identify a specific group or individual. He says, “unto to us…” That means “all” of us. This inclusive language teaches us the importance of welcoming the strangers and foreigners. It’s welcoming the “other” that we so often avoid.
When God created, God created with us in mind. When humanity rebelled and turned away, God (with you and I in mind) choose to give us salvation. That’s how important we are to God. For God so loved… that He gave. The Son that was given is for all whom will receive God’s gift of love. This “us” does not reject or deny anyone. This “us” loves the neighbor as themselves.
In this Season of Advent and Christmas, let us embrace the words of Prophet Isaiah, “For unto us…”
IN “US” with CHRIST!
