Ugandan Thunder at O’Fallon First UMC
September 17 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The Ugandan Thunder is returning to First United Methodist on Sunday, September 17th. If you saw this Ugandan Children’s choir last year then you know how entertaining and inspiring it is to see their joyful faces, beautiful voices and fun dancing. If you did not get to see the children perform last year, then here is your chance! They will be performing at 6pm on September 17th in the Family Life Center.
The Ugandan Thunder is a touring choir created to help advocate for the 2.7 million orphans living in Uganda. Donations taken at their performance goes directly to feeding the children in the many orphanages and schools in Uganda supported by Pennies for Posho. Ted Moody started Pennies for Posho when he took a trip to Uganda and saw many, many school children starving. He was heartbroken and asked some fellow pastors to donate some of their Vacation Bible School money to help the children. In 2008, he left the pastorate to work full time feeding Ugandan children in orphanages. Currently, his mission is maintaining feeding stations at 22 schools and orphanages for more than 6,000 children a day! In fact, Pennies for Posho’s mission has expanded to building schools, dormitories, wells, and medical clinics.
These children worship out of pure joy, not because they want something in return. Each year a brand new group of students is selected to tour so that as many as possible get the opportunity to visit the United States and participate in this effort. Teachers in the schools and orphanages nominate the best, most talented students to be on the tour.
Quoting the Pennies for Posho team, “Our prayer is that the voices and faces of the Ugandan Thunder will plant a seed of compassion in your congregation, not only for the orphans we serve, but for orphans all over the world.”
Please join us September 17th at 6 p.m. in the Family Life Center at O’Fallon FUMC!
